Montaigne, Tontaigne, Notretaigne

Montaigne: ‘my thoughts go to sleep unless they and I wander.’ Really? The reverse is the case for me. I wander—not going anywhere, but round and round—precisely in order to encourage my thoughts to nod off, like a toddler in a pushchair, so they can get their much-needed sleep. In dreaming sleep is the expression of thought that is most useful to what I do.
