Kubrick
Would Kubrick have made more, slightly-more-flawed films if he had been less of a perfectionist, thereby improving the overall balance of 'good art'/'bad art' in the world? Of course not. It takes no time at all to understand that Kubrick's 'perfectionism' was his flaw; the machine-tooling of the Hubble mirror over and over that nonetheless results in a fuzzy picture.
