Beech Wood poem

A squirrel is watching us,
tail curved like a scorpion's.

Beech woods with their density
of bright green canopy

prevent sunlight from settling
to the forest floor, stifling

other trees' growth, and wildflowers.
Jedem das Seine, they say.
