Kate Bush's Russian song, and her version of 'babushka' ('From Russian бабушка (
bábuška), ‘grandmother, granny’), diminutive of баба (bába), ‘old woman’). Ah, but it's all in the elongated 'oo'. That's the vowel that Bush sings better than any other; and this song makes lovely play with the drumbeat 'b' and the cymbal tapping 'shka' that is worked around this vocalic lyric heart.
