There must be an eternal unchanging God
because we live in a mutable, corruptible world. This core transcendental logic sees the cosmos in terms of a sort of meta-zero-sum: there must be somebody happy somewhere
because I am sad; there must be ultimate goodness
because we witnessed the Holocaust and Darfur; I am wealthy
because somebody else is impoverished. There's something heroic, actually, about the resistence to the reality-principle involved--the insistance that the Fantasy
must be the true Reality
because Reality is so resistant to the Fantasy.
